Anyone stayed at Viewpoint Resort on Koh Tao?

Hi I am going to Thailand in March and looking for nice places on Koh Tao that won%26#39;t break the bank. Viewpoint Resort looks nice but I see there is no listing for in on tripadvisor and no reviews?? Anyone been there? let me know if you loved it... hated it. Or have any other nice suggestions. Thanks!

Anyone stayed at Viewpoint Resort on Koh Tao?

Hi,

We just returned from holiday in Thailand - amazing!!

We spent 8 days on Ko Tao, its a good idea to stay at least 5 days on the island - so much to do and see.

We stayed 3 nights at Viewpoint- good value for the price (We%26#39;re also from RSA). The Type V bungalows has great views of the bay, cold shower with a flushing toile and 24hr electricity. restaurant also very good with wide variety. Close to other resorts, but still quiet enough for rest but close enough to mingle with others.

We also stayed in Sai Thong resort - cheaper than Viewpoint, but rustic; i.e. only electricity at night, manual flush toilet etc. Only accessible by boat taxi so ideal place to rest and read but will be too quiet if you want nightlife. Sai Thong has an amazing private beach!

We will download pictures of both resorts within the next week - so keep watching!

Enjoy!

Anyone stayed at Viewpoint Resort on Koh Tao?

Just returned, stayed in the better room of the viewpoint resort.. the views were AMAZING and the balcony was lovely BUT the arty bungalow has not been looked after... there was one 20 watt bulb to light up the whole room and we could not see a thing!!! The flashy black tiled bathroom... lovely but again they had tried to be really arty by putting the light BEHIND a pillar??? again could not see a thing! Service was bad. Food is well priced and nice enough. The thing that was most annoying is that it is not sign posted from the beach. They don%26#39;t warn you of this and you have to walk along a wooden platform along the coast line (very secluded!) literally through a restaurant at one point (have to take off your shoes and everythin!) then over little beaches with broken glass etc... I would have cleaned them up if I was the hotel. We booked ourselves into the Koh Tao resort where for the same money we were in the worst room of the hotel but it was LOVELY! Breakfast included, Infinity pool overlooking the beach, cocktails by the pool, food was good, room cleaned every day cos sand gets everywhere! Free water in rooms.. really good, would def reccomend Koh Tao resort (although I did miss the balcony of the viewpoint!!)

Never been there myself but my sister%26#39;s friend did and said not too bad considering price and location.
