AirAsia and Queen's Garden Resort

Hi all,

I%26#39;m thinking of taking the first return AirAsia flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in June.

What%26#39;s the possibility of the flights being delayed/cancelled?

We are thinking of staying at Queen%26#39;s Garden Resort for night before the early flight to Chiang Mai. Is it a recommended place just for a short overnight stay.

Thanks. =)

AirAsia and Queen's Garden Resort

The Queens Garden hotel is very new and great value for money. I stayed there last August and really enjoyed the quaint location beside the temple and river. It was great fun feeding the catfish!

Rooms were newly furnished and very clean. Some of the furniture actually still had plastic wrapping on, so I assumed all the bedrooms had been refurbished very recently. The restaurant was also good and very reasonably priced.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for an short overnight stay.

For me, anyhow, the Novotel was just too expensive when all I really needed was a bed for the night!

Also, the staff were very reliable and punctual, getting me back to the airport at 6.00am next morning.

Air Asia often have delays but are OK for this short flight. You can%26#39;t make a seat assignment. Nok Air are better, with a better ontime, and you can reserve a seat. Compare prices, and watch out for all the extras that are added to the prices on both.

Thanks Joe.

Is the airport transfer to the airport included in the room rates or do we have to pay it separartely?

%26#39;Cos I read in some reviews, some said it was included. Some had to pay.

Thanks Dragonc. Does Nok Air fly from the new airport?

Yes they do.

Sorry, that%26#39;s incorrect. Nokair only flies out of Don Muang, with the exception of its flight to Hanoi and the hop to Hua Hin which it runs for SGA.

Hotels near Suvarnabhumi:

Sananwan Palace

Very nice and friendly almost-new guesthouse about 20 min by taxi from the terminal, with pool under 500 Baht, in a very interesting old village. My personal favourite. Here%26#39;s a thread with some of my personal photos www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php鈥?/a>

Convenient Resort

asiatravel.com/thailand/鈥ndex.html

(great name!) is the newest entry I%26#39;ve found. Newly-built 4-story hotel at Lat Krabang, about 5-10 min. drive from the airport. 1000-1200 baht.

SP Powerlodge

New entry on Lat Krabang. Basic rooms, no pool. Price of 1300-1900 includes 2-way airport transfer.

Floral Shire Resort

sawadee.com/hotel/鈥ictures.html is just on the edge of the airport, maybe 5 minutes from the terminal. 1200-1300 baht. Brand new. No pool. Motel style.

Queen%26#39;s Garden Resort

www.queensgardenresort.net/room-rates.html only 5 min. from the airport. New, no pool, 900 baht.

Grand Inn Come Hotel

r24.org/thailand1x1.com/鈥?/a> kind of a typical Thai small-town hotel, no pool, 20 min. from airport, 1800 baht ';Let out professional masseuses treat and pamper your stiff and stressed.';

Avana Hotel

Sort of the kind of suburban upscale hotel where Thais hold weddings and conferences. Pool and all the usual amenities, 1200 baht. Maybe about 25-30 min. from the airport.

Ibis Hotel Huamak

ibishotel.com/ibis/鈥iche_hotel.shtml Chain hotel about 30 min from the airport. Pool, 800-1200 baht.

Rachana Place

A hostel off the Bangna-Trat highway AWAY from the city centre, self-described 25 min. from the airport, 350 baht. Free WifFi.

On Nut Guesthouse

hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/SukhumvitO鈥?/a> backpacker hostel about 35-40 min. from the airport and within walking distance of the end station of the Skytrain/BTS line.

Nasa Vegas Hotel

Many recommend. Said to be 15-25 min. from the airport. From 590 baht. 900 baht rooms come with a so-called jacuzzi. No pool. Construction of the new airport rail link is taking place right outside this hotel at the moment so it%26#39;s probably very noisy.

Yes indeed - my apologies - I flew to Hanoi with them.

Wow. Thanks bill2p for all the recommendations. WIll take a look at them. =)

This sounds silly but is Nokair safe and reliable?

weve booked the Queens Garden Resort for June, we are paying about 拢21 for pick up room and drop off which for the time we will be there is a good deal, way better than the novotel
