Dusit Resort Pattaya

Has anyone stayed in the Dusit Resort Hotel? Are there any good places close by to eat? Will watersports be available in August?

Dusit Resort Pattaya

haven%26#39;t stayed at dusit, but there definitely will be watersports in pattaya/jomtien beach areas. best is jomtien beach for banana boating and parasailing. good food places are all over, not to worry. restaurants of many different nationalities, excellent seafood.

thanks Bkk - hope the weather is hot in august and the sea is calm 4 water-skiing . . .!

based on the current hot conditions [relative to last few years], i%26#39;m sure it will be plenty hot for you. August is in the rainy season, so you can expect showers periodically, but they don%26#39;t last long. the down side is that the sea may be quite choppy at times. ya roll the dice and take your chances!

thanks 4 ir honesty BKK - any chance of a tan in august - I am milky white and need the sun . . .! also is it true that the water at the beach is polluted? - no swimming etc ?

There%26#39;s a 100% chance of a tan; more likely you%26#39;ll get a very nice burn if you aren%26#39;t careful! The sun is brutal from the last couple of weeks thru probably sep/oct. My g/f and i spent a day at a wedding in kanchanaburi and i got a bit cooked myself :) . First thing to do is get a hat after you arrive, vendors/shops all over pattaya, and use sunscreen! Even if you%26#39;re sitting in the shade at one of the many beer bars along the beach, the rays reflecting off the water will cook you! Pattaya beach is regarded as the most polluted section, jomtien is considered to be much better. I would do all my water activities at jomtien. I%26#39;m sure that other posters can offer differing views, and maybe they can suggest other beach areas. Yes, ppl do swim in the sea, but for just swimming, i%26#39;d use your hotel facilities. Use the beach for the parasailing, etc.

u r making Pattaya more and more attractive - all i want is the heat and good water sports and a tan to take home - and hopefully no rain. As u r famalier with the area can u suggest any activities to do whilst there (02 aug - 15 aug)

I had thought I was going to dodge the rain showers and admit ignorance 2 my new wife (married on 30 July 08 in Ireland) regarding climate at that time . . .!!! I had promised v hot climate etc...

hope ur right about the heat cos i%26#39;m only bringin%26#39; shorts and flip flops . . .!!

As I said, the rain usually doesn%26#39;t last long and you may in fact get ';lucky'; and have clear searing blue skies for most of your stay! During the rainy season, I always carry a very small umbrella in my tote bag for the un-expected shower. Buy one from a 7-11 or shop. Since you say you%26#39;re very pale, getting a severe sunburn your first couple of days here is a real danger and will spoil your holiday if you don%26#39;t take precautions. Also, drink plenty of water [bottled only] while doing beach activities, dehydration can also be a problem. Other activities include go-karting, daytrips to the nearby islands, mini siam mythailand.flaggy.ch/pattaya/eng/minisiam.htm , shopping in the a/c malls, sitting and stuffing yourself with seafood and cold singha beer!

Dusit is a lovely resort, not only very nice but very well managed and operated. This perhaps comes from the Dusit having been well established over many many years and the staff and well experienced.

Sometimes you do not get this at a newer place.

I agree for watersports Jomntiern area is also worth visiting. It is easy to get into the hustle and bustle of central Pattaya. It will be hot.

Enjoy!

Dusit is a good hotel - try to get a room with a seaview - worth it just to watch the parasailing.

yes super hotel - your problem is not getting a tan but rather not getting burnt. Even in cloudy dyas you will tan, and when the sun comes out an hour can burn you badly. I%26#39;ve been travelling here for 15 years and moved here 9 months ago, and despite my knowledge and best precautions got burnt quite a bit playing golf last week.

Good places to eat - well always a matter of debate - the Gullivers just along beach road might be a nice starting point for you. The nicest meal we%26#39;ve had for weeks in Pattaya was last week at the little indian place almost next to Gregs Kitchen on second road. For high end eating casa pascal takes some beating
