Which resort?

2 middle aged couples wanting to book a 4/5 star resort on a nice beach within walking distance to a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants, but away from discos and sleezy nightlife. Does this exist? Any recommendations for resorts and hotel will be appreciated. Thanks

Which resort?

Have a look at the Nakamanda, it has a few restaurants in walking distance. I would recommend the Tubkaak but there is only really a couple of other hotel nearby, but that would be my first choice.

Which resort?

Krabi Thai Village

Aonang Sunset for budget travellers

I would recommend Golden Beach Resort, located in front of Aonang beach.

They have the cheapest and good massage place, near restaurants.

We really enjoyed our stay at Golden Beach Resort, its in a great location and the Pavilion Suites are perfect. Have a look at my link below, there is lots of photos of the suites. We paid 2700baht per night.

I wouldn%26#39;t say Golden Beach Resort is up to the standard of other resorts in aonang for the same price. The OP did mention they were looking for a 4/5 star resort, and Golden Beach is lucky if it is rated 3 star.

Ao Nang Villa or Krabi Thai Village would be more suitable in my opinion

We stayed at the Tubkaak last year and it was amazing, ca defintely recommend it.

Sure, Tubkaak is a fantastic resort, but the OP wants to be within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. Of which there are none.

Hi Cellen

You could also consider the Sheraton, although personally I prefered the Sofitel although the beach is not as good (but the swimming pool is excellent and you may find the pool a better option than the sea)and there are fewer shops and restaurants within walking distance. Rates at the Sofitel are often very competitive (particularly for the class of hotel) if booked directly through their web site.

I agree with lost farang. Golden Beach is horribly over-priced for what you get. We stayed there in Feb and regretted it. It is near the beach - though beach front is a stretch (about 70-80% of the hotels in Ao Nang are just a few mins walk to beach).
