Amari Coral - Ptg Garden Bay - Graceland - Ptg Merlin

We are a couple on our 20%26#39;s, staying in Phuket for 5 nights. Been seeing places to stay and have chosen Patong, since it%26#39;s the busiest. Don%26#39;t know which hotel to choose between Amari Coral, Patong Garden Bay, Graceland and Patong Merlin. Any advice please?? The price diference between bed %26amp; breakfast and half board is diminute, so now we are in doubt in going HB or not... Are hotel%26#39;s restaurants better quality or can we find good and not expensive restaurants in patong?

All advices are welcome.

Hi Lugore,

Depends what you value most with regard to choosing between these hotels. I like the Amari because you get a really close ocean view from most rooms (there%26#39;s no road between you and the ocean - the hotel has a jetty going out into the ocean). But I see that you chose Patong because it%26#39;s the busiest - so you might prefer the Patong Merlin because that%26#39;s closer to the middle and busier part of Patong than the Amari, which is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Patong.

The Amari has nice restaurants, but they (and most other Hotel restaurants) are a lot dearer than most of the restaurants in Patong%26#39;s streets.

There are many, many good and not expensive restaurants in Patong, and it%26#39;s fun trying different ones rather than spending most of your time in your hotel.

Mike

Thanks Mike. We%26#39;ve decided to go to Patong Merlin with B%26amp;B. It will be nice to try the local restaurants. We will only go half board to Holiday Inn Phi Phi, just stay at the hotel and do 1 or 2 excursions... but still haven%26#39;t found a website where i can book that hotel without going only on Bed %26amp; Breakfast. I think paying directly for our meals at the hotel will be more expensive, so if by anychance you know a website where it can be booked please let me know.

Thanks!!

Hi Lugore,

I probably should add to my other reply.

When I said that Hotel restaurants are usually more expensive than many Patong town restaurants, I really meant for evening meals.

For breakfast, the quality and quantity of the breakfasts at hotels like the Holiday Inn usually makes the Bed and Breakfast deal quite attractive - provided that you like to eat a big breakfast!!! You probably won%26#39;t need much (or any) lunch after a long, relaxing breakfast buffet.

I%26#39;d be tempted to book bed and breakfast at the Holiday Inn Phi Phi and to eat other meals out. Asiarooms.com has a price for that - I don%26#39;t know how it compares with other web sites, but they%26#39;re usually pretty good.

By the way, I%26#39;m not sure what ';half board'; means.

Regards,

Mike
