Taxi for 5 passengers?

We are travelling as a group of 5, which usually means that taxis are an economical choice (and has the benifit of not having to figure out the complex bus system). However, I doubt 5 people plus the driver would fit in a car... we probably need a minivan or minibus. I know these can be hired from private companies, but the ones I%26#39;ve found online can cost upwards of 2000 THB.

Do the Bangkok public taxi companies have larger vehicles? If so, do they cost extra? At the Suvarnabhumi airport, will I find some at the taxi stand or do I have to request one in advance?

Thanks in advance!

Taxi for 5 passengers?

you get what you get at the public taxi rank. very difficult to pre-organise a larger taxi, there aren%26#39;t too many around.

if you are going downtown from the airport, a minivan should cost only 1000B. organise when you arrive at the airport.

You can email them and they can quote you within 24 to 48 hours.

Ok, I might go with Julie Taxi, as 1000 isn%26#39;t as bad as some of the other private taxi companies. That makes it about the same price as taking 2 cabs. Airport buses are still way cheaper even at 100 each, I figure we could take either the A1 or A2 to the river, then water taxi to the Grand Palace (our first stop). I also considered a bus/BTS/water taxi combo, but it just seems too complicated. Any other suggestions?

Take 2 taxi%26#39;s.

As long as you can fit 5 people in a taxi, it is OK. Normally Thai people can do that because of their small size.

Minibuses are usually available at the airport and if you are lucky you might be able to negotiate a fair price like 1000 baht but they are all privately run and wouldn%26#39;t use a meter. It%26#39;s very common to get overcharged so if you don%26#39;t speak Thai, the safest thing to do is get two metered taxi%26#39;s from the taxi rank outside and make sure they actually use the meter and it starts at zero. It shouldn%26#39;t cost more than about 400-500 baht per car. You will have to pay for 1 or 2 toll roads (only about 20-40 baht each) and it%26#39;s quite normal for the driver to ask for the money as you approach so make sure you have some small notes on you.

i have just book with www.julietaxi.com i was quoted 1200, there are to be at the airport with a mini bus when i arrive with a sign with my name on, after a 14 hour flight i am happy with this, they where very quick in responding to email.
