Has anyone stayed at the Dusit Laguna Phuket recently? What%26#39;s it like? Any helpful tips? Which restaurants are best? Thanks
Dusit Laguna Phuket
Hello
I came back from here just before christmas we stayed in an ocean view room best ones for sea view are 218 and 318 are also slightly bigger and not obscured by the trees. I only booked this hotel as i am a fan of dusit hotels . Before this we had a week at the Le Meridien khao lak which was a much cheaper hotel price wise but i am sorry to say i wish we had stayed in khao lak as that hotel by far was much superior and a lot nicer.I suppose when you go to different hotels like we did as we went to three in all one is allways going to have the edge over the other. Nothing wrong with Bang Tao some fantastic restaurants our favourite Tom Yum Goong as you face the beachgo left and it is a short walk down the beach. Or go right and you will come to the lotus which is also good. You can also hire a longtail boat and go up and down the coast or go snorkeling they will quote 1500baht per hour we gave a guy this for 2 hours so barter the guy we used tied his boat up outside tom yum goong he was willing to negotiate. There are also plenty of tour shops on the beach for your trips much cheaper than the hotel. Eating in the hotel is expensive but the thai is very nice for a treat book in advance it gets busy. You will have a nice time but we found the whole complex as there are 5 hotels just to big for us i like smaller or boutique.

Dusit Laguna Phuket
Please read my review of 24 Feb.2007 on the Dusit.Since then we spent another 3 weeks there this year.
Other than the beach restaurants (e.g.:Lotus) we enjoy ';Tatonka'; just before the entrance to Laguna Phuket. They have a pick-up service.
We actually like those aspects of the hotel that Julie didn%26#39;t like.We are all different in our tastes.
Have stayed at Dusit Laguna a couple of times and love it! - have also stayed at The Laguna Beach Hotel (next door), which tends to be better for families. As we are buying property in Laguna we are obviously biased - however we drove over to the mainland and went into Le Meridian which did look good...but really quite isolated, we found Khao Lac quite lacking in character as alot of new (re) building post Tsunami. I am sure you will love the Dusit and agree with the post made by ';lovetray';. Tatonka is our all time favourite in Phuket and only 2 min drive (free pick-up) from Dusit. However are latest discovery of really really good rest on beach (better, and much cheaper than Lotus lovetray!!) is The Layan, it is next door to The Lotus (on the right if you have your back to the sea). We were there a couple of weeks ago and Harold (owner of Tatonka) was at the next table...need I say more!!!
When at Dusit pick up the free shuttle bus outside (on demand they call it for you) ask to be taken to Laguna Townhomes phase 3b'; this will drop you off at the perimeter of the Laguna complex and you can walk into the village....loads of great restaurants - ';Chaba'; on the right for seafood, ';Tatonka'; 5 min walk on the left - Totos for Italian next door and The Supper Club (food overated but nice wine.. good for celeb watching, they always seem to go here). Also Toms for ';designer'; handbags, good Mulberry and Todds. Hope this helps - we are back in one weeks time - can%26#39;t wait!!
