Hotel in Bangkok, ChangMail

I%26#39;d like to visit the following places for 14 days: Bangkok, Chang Mai, Phuket, Ha Long Bay (Vietnam) %26amp; HoChiMinh (Vietnam) Any recommendation the mid range hotel re: nice and safe for 2 women? My daughter and I will depart from Los Angeles in June. Thanks in advance

3 days in Bangkok on arrival, Pathumwan Princess Hotel (3.5 stars, around US$120 per room per night inclusive of tax %26amp; breakfast) above MBK shopping centre, central to everything and easy access to BTS skytrain.

Fly to Chinag Mai (air asia, thai air, nok air, etc.);





4 days Chang Mai, Royal Lanna (3 star, around US$40 a night inclusive) right above the night bazaar.

Fly to Hanoi via Bangkok (Air Asia - cheap)





4 nights Hanoi and Halong Bay, Hanoi Elegance 2 Hotel (2.5 star around US$40 a night inclusive) in the old french quarter, good location. Accross the lane (Ma May Street) from Handspan tours who can organise a 2 day junk-cruise of Halong Bay for around US$100 per person), back to Hanoi for a night.

just stayed for the weekend in chiang mai at the bossotel - a little out of the centre - but you can get a nice room on the annexe for B450, B1400 in the main bit - free transfer to and from the airport, tuk tuks always outside to take you to say the night bazaar for B50 and a lovely cheap restaurant right next door
