Take the MRT to Silom station. Change to the skytrain and go to Sapan Taksin. Under the station is the Tha Sathorn pier. You can get the Chao Phrya Express boat (a public service every 20 minutes) and ride up the river for an hour for about 16 baht each way. The ride to Nonthaburi (end of the line) takes about an hour and is fascinating.

Just make sure it is the public boat you are catching (yellow and orange flags) and not the Tourist boat which is more expensive and has a limited service. The trip to Nonthaburi and back suggested by above is a great way of sampling the lives of people of Bangkok.

Thank you so much for the advice. looking forward for the trip end of this month!!!!

This is from the hotel management,

The hotel is situated right next to the canal that can take you to Chao Phraya River, and because the Bangkok mayor has build a canal walk ways and there are two ports on your left and right you can get to travel on the Thai speed boat with just a 1 or 2 minute walk from the hotel. About where to get off and ect I can email you or you can ask at the hotel. (However as a slight warning Thai canals still needs to be cleaned, but the trip is much faster and is very interesting to see the transition from originally a canal based society to a road based society). In Bangkok using this mode of transport I would recommend you stop at Central World, then go to Pragon if you want brandnames shopping complex, or if you enjoy market style products, factory outlets and non branded stuff then go to Platinum. For a more modern and cleaner mode of transport you can go to Fortune (IT mall) to get subway(underground). If you want any more information please feel free to email me at pruetnara@yahoo.com

Hope you enjoy your stay

Yours sincerely,

Pruet Narathuschan

PS also the hotel is very close to but not exactly on Ratchadapisek

When you arrive if you take a taxi you should tell him/her to go to Ramkamhaeng 35 (Pronounced:sarm sip ha in Thai).

My travel agency has changed my accomodation from Dynasty hotel to White Orchid hotel. Is the hotel near where are the tourist places? Thank you for your advice
