Travelling around southern thailand - HELP!

Me and my boyfriend are looking to travel around southern Thailand in the beginning of Sept this year. I want to visit Phuket, KS, Phi Phi islands and maybe Krabi. What is the best way to get about is hiring a car worth it? We are also on a budget and will only be in Thailand for just over 2 weeks. Can anyone suggest places to stay and visit, looking for lively places to party!!! Whats the best route for us to take so we make the most of our time. We also wish to spend a night or 2 in Bangkok and this seems the cheapest place to fly into.

Thanks for your time :-)

Travelling around southern thailand - HELP!

My wife and I stayed at the Leelawadee Boutique ( Phuket ) as part of a two week Thai holiday. My Wife and I loved everything about this hotel: the room, the property, the service, the pool, the food--it was all quite perfect. I would definitely recommend it.Looking for lively places to party.

The best way to explore Thailand is with a rental car.The locations available for your Thailand car rental include; Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Hua Hin, Khao Lak, Khon Kaen, Koh Samui, Korat, Krabi, Pattaya, Phitsanulok, Phuket, Rayong, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchthani and Udon Thani.Remember, in Thailand, drive on the %26lt;b%26gt;left%26lt;/b%26gt; hand side of the road.

I suggest places to visit in Phuket,Phuket Fantasea and Eco safari tours are most popular in Phuket.I had researched the Phuket Daytrip online on hotels2thailand and then contacted to make the reservation.

Louby,

best advice I can give would be to work out your itinery so you head in one direction rather than back-track.

Do you have to enter and leave thru Bangkok, or can you enter/leave thru Phuket ?

Time is the biggest enemy when travelling, so you don%26#39;t want to waste too much travelling, and I would avoid hiring and driving, unless you had to, though hiring a car and driving around Koh Samui and Phuket is fine and a good way to see/do things.

On the basis that you want to see things rather than just nite-life/party, and wake up the next afternoon.

If enter thru Bkk, see if you can exit thru Phuket (that will give you longer there), otherwise back to Bkk to depart (and consider $$, may be cheaper to exit thru Bkk as well)

Consider:

Stay Bkk 2n/3n,plenty of cheap/nice places to stay,is there something you WANT to do/see in Bkk? Shop, drink, Patong Rd, Chinatown, Sum Lim nite-markets, burn.

Option 1: Fly Bangkok air to KSamui;

Opt 2:

Maybe lookup Lomprayah ferry service and consider booking a %26#39;buffet%26#39; ticket, one way Bkk to KS (abt A$30-35), let%26#39;s you get off/on in one direction valid for 30days, so stop over at Hua Hin, only abt 5hrs south of Bangkok, but a great place, stay 1 or 2n, then back on the bus to Chumporn (abt 6-7hr), that%26#39;s the port where the ferry departs. The buses are good quality a/c, with dvd movies as you go.

Book VIP if you can afford the extra A$2,that%26#39;s for the ferry part of the trip only, as that entitles you to use a separate smaller %26#39;state-room%26#39; upstairs on the ferry (holds abt 36people only).

Get off at KPhangan (abt 2.5hrs), stay 1/2n (quiet and relaxing), then back on ferry to KSamui (abt 30min) stay 2/3n, partyhard (2n would be short but fun, 3n would be plenty, 4n you%26#39;re ready to move on).

Then fly Bangkokair to Phuket (abt 1hr), stay 3n, partyhard, then ferry to Krabi, via Phi Phi Don, or direct, or organise a driver to drive you around to Krabi (the ferry is cheaper, but it%26#39;s not a speedboat, but you get to do your sightseeing for the transport cost), stay 2n, then fly AsiaAir to Bkk, stay overnight, then depart.

Sounds busy, but if you%26#39;re not dragging lots of luggage with you, as you go. you can buy up in Pkt and Bkk before you leave, and only carry the stuff in one direction. and you get to party, rest, sightsee, then party again.

I like to leave a place wanting more, rather than having had enough.

we did most of it, in the other direction - Pkt - Bkk - last August.

anyway,

there%26#39;s something to think abt.

Cheers

Mark
