asiarooms confirmation

The asiarooms web site has had mixed reviews on this forum, but they do seem to have the cheapest prices for Bangkok hotels. One thing I%26#39;m not clear about is that when they confirm your booking they take credit card payment. Is this for the full cost of your stay in the hotel or just a deposit? Also do they charge you for paying by credit card and are there any other hidden charges they don%26#39;t mention?

When you request a booking, they say they block your card for the full amount. Then when your reservation is confirmed they charge the full amount. If they can%26#39;t confirm your reservation at the rate they advertised, or if there is nor oom at all, it still takes a fairly long time for them to release the block on your account (some say up to 6 weeks). You have to pay an additional fee if you change or cancel your reservation before their deadline, and if you cancel after the deadline you don%26#39;t get a refund or only a partial refund. Certainly be sure you read and completely understand the terms and conditions of booking with such a website before you book with them. Sometimes cheapest isn%26#39;t best.

It doesn%26#39;t take 6 weeks for them to remove the block (about a week) if they can%26#39;t confirm booking or you change your mind and ask them to cancel before confirmation. If they have confirmed and you then cancel, it can take a while for the refund approx 2 weeks, (although there are reports of much longer). You also pay a small admin fee, so your refund is minus this payment. We didn%26#39;t end up using them, were happy with Sawadee even if slightly more cost. Also happy with Precisison (Agoda), again can be more expensive. Make sure you get full price with taxes if you check Precision web site as the initial price does not include this. Sawadee ask for deposit only after room confirmed. You can still change your mind if unsure, before paying any money.

I booked with them and they confirmed the booking within 10 hours. They take the full amount from your credit card.

I used them two years ago for Hong Kong and we just booked with them for Phuket. This time around, the first hotel we chose wasn%26#39;t available for the price and they lifted the hold on our CC within a day. The 2nd time we confirmation well within one day and our CC was charged immediately.

Sawadee.com and many others do not want any credit card details to make an enquiry at all, you tell them which hotels you want, you can enquire for as many as you wish, costs nothing.

You have a few days to decide, if you choose to accept you pay 1 night deposit and the balance a couple of weeks before arrival. No tying up funds and loosing possible interest or paying c/card interest.

There are masses of sites out there, shop around.

Thanks for all your replies. I notice that expedia also take full payment up front. I%26#39;ll shop around a little more. i%26#39;ve got my flight booked so I%26#39;ll take my time getting a good deal on the hotel. swaradee has been mentioned a few times, I%26#39;ll enquire with them.

So just to confirm what people have said about getting your money back..

If the room i asked for is not available, they wont charge my card for anything?

Do they still charge me the admin fee no matter what?
