getting to koh samui

hi all i have a couple of questions about getting to the island and place to stay

flying out to bangkok on saturday staying 2 nights and then on to samui for 12 nights.been looking at bangkok airways seems to be around £100.00 return do i have a cheaper option that doesnt take a long time .

my last question is places to stay budget is around £20 a night for the pair of us,would you guys be able to point me in the right direction location near the main nightlife but mot right on top of it.

The only viable alternative is to fly to Surat Thani and take a bus to the ferry terminal. Other than that its bus or train from Bangkok, a long trip.
