Seattle - Hanoi - Bangkok / Advice please?

I%26#39;m planning a trip to Thailand and recently decided I might want to go to Hanoi and northern Vietnam since I%26#39;m in the area. Can anyone suggest an itinerary for a month long journey? Would love to fly from Seattle to Hanoi and then on to Bangkok.

Anyone have any advice on a cheap way to book this? Is it trying to do to much in a month? Any itinerary advice or info. is much appreciated. Thank you.

You may be better flying Seattle-Bangkok, and use BKK as a base to travel to Hanoi, as fares would be better. You can get cheap flights BKK-HAN on Air asia and Nok Air.

Seattle - Hanoi - Bangkok / Advice please?

Book a round trip SEA - BKK. Northwest flies Airbuses on their SEA - NRT route that have great AVOD entertainment systems and the fare is usually OK. So you would book SEA - BKK with a change of plane in NRT (Tokyo).

Air Asia flies BKK - HAN and booked in advance is very inexpensive. Don%26#39;t book connecting flights to Air Asia flights because they are a point to point low cost carrier, and will not check baggage or you through and will not accommodate you in any way should you miss your flight for any reason. In spite of those conditions, they get you where you want to go for a fraction of the cost of full service carriers.

BKK on arrival for a couple of days to adjust to the time and the heat.

Hanoi - 3 days

Halong Bay - overnight trip 2 days

Sapa - 3 days

Hanoi - 1 day enroute to Hue

Hue - 2 days

Bangkok - 2 days

Chiang Mai - 4 days

Mae Hong Son - 2 days

Chiang Mai - 1 day to regroup...fly to Phuket to get to Khao Lak

Khao Lak - 4 days

BKK - 2 days before return home
