Malaria?

Hi guys,

Just had my immunizations done and malaria meds are also recommended for thailand. Is there a high risk of malaria oin krabi, ko lanta and phi phi? Would you take it? It involves taking so many pills for the whole stay so I am not sure how improtant it is to take it given that we are risk of mosquito bites in ko lanta at night?? what would you do?

Malaria?

Had mine done yesterday and the doctor said I%26#39;d only need malaria tablets for northern Thailand, Chiang Mai etc.

Malaria?

Krabi, Koh Lanta and Phi Phi have a low risk of malaria that usually does not warrant taking prophylaxis. Your doctor might have a reason for not wanting you to take even that small risk...don%26#39;t know. Or your doctor may not be completely informed. You might do a bit of reading wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/destinationThailand.aspx and then consult again.

The only place i%26#39;ve had to take malaria tablets for in Thailand is Koh Chang. Have a look at this website - it says the places malaria tablets are recommended for

In 6 years here i have never heard of a case of Malaria.
