elephant riding in Bangkok???

Hi there, I am travelling to Bangkok at the end of June and I was wondering where can I go on a 2 day 1 night trip which would include riding elephants? I have heard there are many trips available but can anyone recommend a good, reliable one??? Would I have to go to Phuket or is there one that we can get picked up from in Bangkok?

I would appreciate any advice.

Many thanks,

Trips to Kanchanaburi often include elephant rides.

Without hesitation, try and get to the Anantara up in the Golden Triangle (i hrs drive north of Chiang Rai).

You will get very %26#39;up-close%26#39; and personal with the ele%26#39;s and will come away with an experience to last a lifetime.

Check-out www.helpingelephants.org and news.helpingelephants.org for an insite into a unique adventure.

I%26#39;d say Kanchanaburi..I spent overnight there and it%26#39;s truly amazing..

Last time, our guide, tong, brought us to a place where they didn%26#39;t use any hook..it%26#39;s lovely..

She mentioned that there%26#39;s an elephant camp near the floating market but she wouldn%26#39;t recommend for some reasons.

I think you can also do that near bangkok, but make sure that you consider a good one.

Elephants are officially banned from the Big Mango, although you will see a few hanging about for tourists to feed.

Riding them near Bangkok;

Rose Garden has elephants and a cultural show - just outside town.

Kanchanaburi as already stated is a good ovenighter, and you can stop at the famous floating market on the way.

Khao Yai National Park is just over 2 hour drive from Bangkok, a good priced hotel would be for instance http://www.junglehousehotel.com/ They have elephants at the front of the hotel.

Plenty of small elephant camps around Pattaya (2 hours), including at the Nong Nooch Gardens (my favourite place in that area).
