deluxe premium room anantara

Thinking of booking a deluxe premium room in the Anantara, has anyone any feedback and advice if they have stayed there before?.

My son and girlfriend will be visiting Thailand for the first time, and I want them to be pleased with their room,I understand that the rooms have been refurbished.

Another query mobile phones, should I buy a local sim card, for our mobile phones?

Anantara is out of HH by 4 or 5 Kilometers, you can catch a taxi to town just outside on the main rd. It has beautiful grounds and swimming pool, the rooms like most 4 and 5 star resorts are great. If you stay in town there鈥檚 more to see and do, also many places to eat. You can read in previous posts most people say its very expensive to eat in the resorts.

Resorts in town are; Phutarucsa, Hilton, Sofitel and Sofitel Village, Marriot plus many small boutique type places that have sprung up in the last few years. A great new place some friends stayed at a few weeks ago is next door to the Sofitel (cant remember the name at the moment but will drive by later and re-post). They have self contained villas with a main pool, you can walk through the resort to the beach and its 3 or 4 minutes to the main part of town and they are giving good discounts at the moment.

If you鈥檙e going to be speaking to each other (your son and girlfriend) I would recommend buying local sims as they鈥檙e very cheap.

Sorry - don%26#39;t really know the Anantara other than the fact it is, as the other reviewer has said, a good distance away from Hua Hin Center.

Looking at the price (at least 9,000baht a night according to their website) a club room at the Hilton will come in at the same sort of price (floor 15 or 16) with breakfast, afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks (6 - 8) and post-dinner drinks 8-9.30 all up in a private lounge on the 17th floor overlooking Hua Hin. All this with the bonus that you are right in the middle of the %26#39;action%26#39; - so to speak.

Of course, if they are looking for a more intimate hotel - then the Anantara will probably suit (or the Sofitel next to the Hilton).

cheers

Hi All,

thanks for the info, looks like it will be the Anantara,as they like the look of the hotel,I am still not sure, nothing new! can%26#39;t make my mind up.

I didn鈥檛 get a chance the other day to check out the name of the resort next door to the Sofitel Hua Hin , got it today.

If you want to spend on the room then I can%26#39;t imagine staying anywhere but the sofitel railway hotel. It%26#39;s regularly listed as one of the most beautiful in Thailand (recently featured in Legendary Hotels of Asia). It%26#39;s a beautiful, colonial style place. Also, I believe the Marriot and Hilton are in better locations.

I have had a spa treatment at the Anantara and I can vouch for that. It%26#39;s expensive but the treatment with two therapists is well worth the expense if pampering is what you want.

Hi,

We stayed in the Anantare last September for our honeymoon. The hotel itself was lovely, we stayed in a standard (I think) room on the ground floor opposite the beach. Our room was lovely, really really nice and perfect for us. When we arrived they pushed an upgrade on us, but after seeing the room we were more than happy with it. It%26#39;s decorated beautifully. I can%26#39;t imagine the more expensive rooms being anything else other than gorgeous.

The resort is out of town, but you don%26#39;t have to go to the road side to grab a taxi. Reception will phone one for you and it%26#39;s not more expensive than the tuk tuk you will get you back. I think it was about 200 bhat but it was nice at the end of the night to get a tuk tuk home. Our favourite was a young guy who had flashing lights and 80%26#39;s rock blaring out - that was fun!

The resort is lovely, but the main reason for upgrading is I believe that in season, the facilities are limited by the type of room you take. We were out of season, so could use all the restaurants.

The anantara is a really nice resort and we really enjoyed it. The sea is fine for swimming, but the beach is not very wide. I am not sure what it is like at the other resorts. This was our first visit to Thailand too, and we had an amazing time.

Hope this helps?

Thanks
