Which resort?

2 middle aged couples wanting to book a 4/5 star resort on a nice beach within walking distance to a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants, but away from discos and sleezy nightlife. Does this exist? Any recommendations for resorts and hotel will be appreciated. Thanks

Can anyone tell me the difference between Mom Tris Villa Royale and Mon Tris Boathouse. Which one is better and for what reasons.

Kata Thani or Kata Beach Resort are both pretty good.

Kata Beach Resort right on beach in the middle of shops and retaurants. Also if looking for something a liitle less pricey the Kata Plams worth a look a short walk to beach etc.Bez

We prefer Kata over Karon beach, just a bit more choice in shopping and food places.

The Kata beach Resort looked great. We stayed at the KataThani only 1.5KM away, but you need to get a taxi into town (100-150baht).

Day trips to patong are easy from there too, and not too long by Taxi or Tuk Tuk.

We have decided that next time we go, we wont stay in Patong as its just too busy as the beach was covered in chairs and tourists from sunup to sundown. The quieter beaches of Karon and Kata and Kata Noi were much nicer.

Phuket is not a large place, so no matter where you stay its a quick trip by taxi to anywhere.
