Koh Sak National Parks

I am so confused. My teenage son would love to sleep in a tree house at Koh Sak national park. He said he saw that you can in a book! We were planning to spend 2/3 days in Bangkok and then 3/4 in Chaing Mai and then Ko Sumui but now not sure where to go? And should we by pass Chaing Mai and go to Koh Sak?

Koh Sak National Parks

thank you very much x

have you been to Chaing Mai what was it like or shall we head after bangkok to koh sak? tips?

You should not Khao Sok, we stayed there last year. It is the most pristine Natioanl Prk in Thailand with wildlife everywhere including gibbons and lianas. We stayed 2 nights in the tree houses and one on the floating rafts on the lake. If you go do not miss the lake! If you can fly from Chiang Mai to Surat Thani you can get a lift to Khao Sok (not far). After your visit you can get the ferry from Don Sak Pier near Surat Thani Town for 150bht to Koh Samui takes 90 mins.

For a great tour company including guides/transport etc have a look at www.limestonelaketours.com and email Kris. There is no one better in this area.

Coffs

thank so much. i just posted a request for info and lo and behold you have answered my question!! ta very much. I am going to try and book up now!! Do you think we should not miss Chaing Mai?

Yes don%26#39;t miss Chiang Mai, maybe do a hill tribe trek, you can do in a day.

Coffs

Hi Tara,

I totally agree with Coffs. Chiang Mai is a must.

We used Sergeant Kai for our trips, he is not the cheapest guide available but he is fantastic and his knowledge and passion for Chiang Mai is amazing.

Google Sergeant Kai and take a look at his website, we highly recommend him.

I used this link to book my trip and stayed in a tree house at Our Jungle House and did an evening trek and a full day trek with a guide, an elephant ride, a canoe trip and an overnight trip to the lake where you sleep in a raft house. It was not expensive and the food was some of the best I%26#39;ve had in Thailand.

Chiang Mai is a mellow and beautiful city and you%26#39;ll fall in love with it. The night market there is great.

Koh Samui is fun and sort of laid back - great for surfers. It is getting more built up and popular. I like it way better than Phuket (it%26#39;s less commercial) but Krabi is another option - Railay is the most beautiful beach with limestone karsts and you can do canoe trips, snorkeling trips, etc. from there.

WOW! Thank you all so much. so far we are spending a night in bangkok then catching sleeper to chaing mai then doing a trek then after 3 days a sleeper back to bangkok. then flying to krabi and heading for koh sak and the jungle house and raft trip. and then ....koh sumui!! what an adventure we are going to have. ta so much for all your tips its great and so reassuring to hear everyones experiences.

Tara69,

Hope your trip was great. My husband and I are taking our 17 year old daughter and 14 year old son to Thailand in June 2008. Sounds like we have a similar itinerary to yours. Would you please post a recap of your trip, how things went, what lessons you learned, what you would repeat. How did you get to Koh Sak from Bangkok?

Thanks,
