We are only in Chiang Mai for a short time and want to see as much as we can. I have put together an itinerary. Can anyone give advise if it is doable?
Day 1
- arrive 9:30am
- Doi Suthep Temple
- Chiang Dao caves and markets
- Kantoke Dinner/night markets
Day 2
- Doi Pui poppy fields, markets and Mong hill tribe people
- Visit Monks
- hang around Chiang Mai city and night markets
Day 3
- Mae Sai
- Golden Triangle
- Mae Khong River trip to see a Laos village
- Chiang Rai
- Fly from Chiang Rai 9:30pm
Would like to see some waterfalls, craft villages as well. Not too fussed about the elephants.

Day 1 and 2 should be fine. Day 3 is doable but requires and early start, say 0600. CM to golden triangle is about 3 hr drive. trips along the river about 2hrs to make it worth your while. seeing waterfalls usually means entering national parks (400B per person), check first. nothing of note really in CR, i would just get to CR airport by 2000. this gives you extra hours at Mae Sai and craft villages.

Thanks BKK. For Day 1, we don%26#39;t arrive in Chiang Mai until 9:30am but wanted to go to Chiang Dao as I heard that Tuesday is a local market day. Could we still do it or do you suggest another way/itinerary

if you can get away by 1100 from CM i think you%26#39;ll be fine. chiang Dao is only 60 km north of CM. you can still have a good 8 hrs and get back by 1900 for dinner.

Hi Lisa
Not sure if I am too late to comment - when are you travelling?
If you are after craft markets then Bo Sang is a must - it consists of a few different places spread out but if get a tuk tuk for the day they should be able to show you round all the places.
We went to the parasol makers, carpet place - which sells fab pashminas, laquer place and some silk weaving.
When you get back I would be really interested in what day 3 was like as i am goign to be in Mae sai for 4 weeks early next year and am looking for some day trips on my days off.
