Things to do on a budget in Phuket

Hi all, will be staying 4D3N at The Royal Paradise Hotel near Patong Beach next week. Are there any must-trys that you%26#39;ve been but not too costly?

Some specific things that i am interested in...

Any nice and decent massage/manicures around the area as i know the hotel amenities can be quite expensive.

Is it cheaper to book tours with the hotel or straight to the agency, example like snorkeling trips, tours around the island..?

Oh and where are the best bargain shopping belts around the area?

Hope you guys can help me out =) Thanks a million!!

Check out this website for trips and contact them via e-mail. I am going to take some trips with them during the holidays. They seem to be cheaper and more personal than others.

there are many tour desks at the patong beach area(i%26#39;m sure that it is the same at the other beaches too). go to these desks and book your tours with them....the listed brochure price would be TB1500 but you can then negotiate a better price.

the OTOP shopping market at the southern end of patong is a good shopping area.

Hi there,

There are loads of places outside the hotel where you can have 1hr massages for 200-250baht and I paid 150baht for a manicure.

If you walk to the beach end of Bangla Rd and turn right, walk down a couple of minutes and over the road on the beach side is Dolphin Massage.

They have great prices and do massage, manicure, pedicure, facials etc.

Have a look at my link below for photos and info on Dolphin Massage.

Book your tours on the street not from the hotel, but go to a few and compare prices etc.

You have lots of good shopping around your hotel.

There are night markets that set up on the main road outside your hotel, go to OTop markets turn left out front of your hotel on Rat-U-Thit road and keep walking for about 10-15 minutes.

Also tons of shopping along the beach road. Try and get to the Phuket weekend markets if f you can 鈥?they are the best.

Have a look at my Phuket price guide for shopping and it will give you an idea of prices to pay etc. There is also lots more info on shopping places as well and things to see and do.

Cathy

Thank you for all your responses! Have visited some of the websites you suggested and will probably give them a try when i get there... Thanks for helping me out! ^^v

Now someone talking my style of holiday.on a budget!!

I can answer some of these as well. Would agree with Cathy about the Thai massages. They are everywhere and really good value. Someone told me though to check their certificate on the wall to make sure they have done the courses. Mind you could have been photocopied for all I knew! hehehe.

There are so many little travel agents as well that have specials out the front. They usually have a blackboard out the front. From what i saw they seemed to be open to negotiations so you should have no problems. We would have liked to do one that said 2 days one night with accomodation, transport, dinner and breakfast for 1500 to Phi Phi. But alas silly me only booked 1 week to Phuket.

Happy Holidays. Cant wait to go again!!!
