i am gonna be staying at the Royal Paradise Hotel in Jan 15 - 24 , what is the hotel like and where is it located to the nearest shopping malls and markets, also what is the reputation of the hotel, thanks

Royal Paradise hotel is good if you are in the new section, we had their all you can eat buffet for 150baht a few months ago, wouldnt do it again. (You are close to shops). The hotel is in the gay area

Sorry but it is not 3 minutes alk to the beach, you couldn%26#39;t run it in that time! The hotel opened in the early 90%26#39;s and towers over Patong.

The Royal paradise is a a high rise and there is also a new wing to it.

Be sure you know whether you are getting rooms in the new wing.

It is in busy part of Patong with bars and clubs around as Cathy has menioned. There are market stalls and just across the road plenty of Thai food at good prices. To get to the beach it is through Soi Bangla, although not that busy in the day packed at night. It is also convenient for the new Jungceylon mall which has just soft opened.

So you are very central in busy area close to everything.

I%26#39;ve stayed at The Royal Paradise several times.

The tower section has superior rooms which are very dated but OK.

The bathroom are very retro with yellow, black and white colour scheme, all bathrooms tend to flood after showering as they are not designed properly and all the water from the shower runs of the bath onto the floor rather than into the bath and down the drain.

There are great views from the tower wing either north or south depending which side of the building you are on.I prefer the view north over the pool and Royal wing.

The royal wing in a newer addition wihich is low rise in comparison and has better quality rooms and higher prices.

The main pol is a great size and 1.5m deep.

The area in front of the hotel in the surounding sois (especially to your right) is the local Gay area of Phuket and contains an assortment of bars , clubs with caberet, coffee shops, massage etc.

Several market stalls set up in the evening along Rat-u-Thit road selling all sort of things. There is also a good selection of eating places around this area.

The beach is a good 10 minute walk and the fastest way is to turn right into Rat-u-thit road and next left into Sawatdik road walk to the end of this road and you can%26#39;t miss the beach.

I am travelling to Patong and staying at the royal paradise hotel. i will be staying in the Superior Royal...is this the new section...or the old? wat is it like? the pictures look good, but they can be VERY wrong... i know from experience!

a mentally disabled guy was murdered there recently

the reward was initially 10,000bht

when it was increased to 20,000, he was found out back in a klong (water)

aparently its a sh-t-hole
