Travelling to Phuket in late May/June 2008 Weather??

Hi All,

Unfortunately l can only take annual leave from Late May to 11th june 2008 due to work commitments. l have my heart set on Phuket as we went on our honeymoon back in 1998 and absolutely loved it!

The only concern l have is the weather as l have read up on the net on the best times to travel to Phuket and May/June apparently is the start of the rainy season. Hopefully someone can shed some light with their past experience when traveling in this period and any tips you can offer.

It will be very hot, with occasional rain showers, but not enough to worry about.

We travelled at exactly that same time last year and had on/off weather...the first 3 days in Patong were perfect. Sunny and the ocean was nice and calm and clear water. Then it started to rain for approx the next 4 days and the sea started getting alot rougher (we were in Kata Beach by then) It didn%26#39;t bother us because we just went and had endless massages, manicures etc...then the last two days cleared up again and it was perfect at Kata Beach.

So basically you will get some nice weather but some rain as well (and when it rained...it rained!)

Saying all that, I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate in going back again at that time of year - so much cheaper for accommodation!

I am going at exactly the same time. We intend to make the best of it rain or shine.............

We go at that time every year , some years more rain than others, but ,we still have lots of sunshine , and we love the tropical storms.

It%26#39;s a great time to be on Phuket ......

Less crowded and much cheaper accomodation.

Also when it rains, it is still hot , so it doesn%26#39;t matter if you get wet.

Hi i was going to create a new post, since you started i hope you dont mind me adding onto yours.

I%26#39;m planning on a honeymoon from 5/28-6/10. Do you think this time frame will be better or worse? either way we plan to make the most of it. we will be travelling from NYC.

any recommendations on clear water beaches located near the nightmarkets. i heard impiana phuket cabana is a nice hotel. any help will be greatly appreciated.
