Babies in Thailand

Hi - myself, my husband and my 16 month old will be spending 2 weeks in Phuket. Cannot wait and have been twice before (did not have baby then). I know that we cannot have water or salad. Any thing else we can do to make the bub safe and not sick? What would others normally feed their child there? How do you make sure they do not drink the water in the ocean or the bath?

Brand name baby supplies are readily available, but you may not find the exact brands you are used to at home. That is probably only a problem if your baby is a picky eater. Do not worry too much about the bath water. Remember he will be taking a bath in it (just like he does at home) and it is inherently not the cleanest water, considering how it is being used. I am not sure about Phuket, but the water in Bangkok is not nearly as bad as many people believe. I agree with drinking bottled water, but the small amount that would be ingested in a bath or shower is not that big of a deal. If you bring a stroller, bring one that folds up compactly but that has large diameter wheels. The large wheels will help on rough sidewalks, and you may want to be able to fold it up at a restaurant. Also, there is a chance you will have to carry it up and down some stairs, but this may be a bigger problem in Bangkok than Phuket.

A baby in Thailnad is not difficult to deal with. Enjoy your trip.

We recently got back with our 3 kids, our youngest is 2.

Noone got sick, and all we avoided was tap water and salads. My 2 year old ate what we ate....and if she wasn%26#39;t in the mood for exotic stuff I%26#39;d just order her some chips, a fried egg with bread, pizza etc.There%26#39;s lots of lovely fruit available so he%26#39;ll be able to eat bananas, mangoes etc.

I found the sea very clean, so even if she swallow a bit, it didn%26#39;t do her any harm.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone. Puts my mind at ease.
