Hello Lots Of Kittys?

Hi everyone, long time Phuket forum listener, first time caller...

Getting excited for my six week sojourn to Vietnam, Cambodia and finally Thailand with a week in Phuket to wrap things up and in my endless searching for info in the forums (BTW thank you everyone for the amazing knowledge and opinions posted on here everyday) I need to ask a question out of curiosity more than anything:

Who is the original Hello Kitty?

During our visit last year we went to one in a Soi off Beach Rd, but most recent references seem to refer to one at OTOP? I have also noticed more mixed reviews in the past year than I had seen when we first heard about it on these pages so I can%26#39;t help but wonder if one is giving the other a bad rep?

Will the real Hello Kitty please stand up?

In any case I%26#39;ll also be paying Mr Noon a visit...he seems to get a lot of good press...

Hello Lots Of Kittys?

The REAL original Hello Kitty:

Hello Kitty (ハローキティ, Harō Kiti?) is the best-known of many fictional characters produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. Hello Kitty is a very simply drawn character who was created in 1974 by the Sanrio Company in Tokyo, Japan. Registered in 1976, Hello Kitty is now a globally known trademark.

Thanks Bill,

my reference to Hello Kitty is more in terms of the DVDs purchased in %26#39;discreet%26#39; sections of these HK memorabilia stores.

But I do enjoy the adventures of that feline, although I think Garfield is possibly more reflective of my dining and recreational habits.

hi there poppynet

I think the first hello kitty shop was the shop near sweet restaurant. Not the one in the otop market. i believe they are own by the same people . We buy our DVDS from both just depends which way we are shopping. Lol

Teresa =)

There is ';Hello Kitty'; EVERYTHING here.

I was checking out of Carrefour the other day behind a lady who was buying, yes, a Hello Kitty bra . . . with cute little Hello Kitty(s) all over it.

Just had to laugh.

We were looking for a watch for my partners niece, shes 9!

We noticed one really pretty pink watch, that had HEOOL KITTY spelt on it, it was written on the armband .... in big letters. I think they got the double L and the O a little mixed up!

We didnt buy that one, and the sales lady didnt know it was spelt wrong, but it was really cute - I loved it.

Now, when we meet up with each other, we now say HEOOOOL how are you???
