phuket

There%26#39;s a million things to do on Phuket. All the standard stuff of course, snorkeling, scuba, elephant treks, go carting, hanging on the beach etc.

For a few ideas check out:

Bikes, if you negotiate should be about B150 to 250 a day.

As Ted has said, try www.phuket.com and also www.phuketgazette.net

Hi Melly,

You have probably already researched most of the must see things in Phuket but here is my favourite list of things not to miss.

Fantasea: make sure if you go you have the meal included the buffet is huge and the room is amazing.

Dino park mini golf: this is 25 mins out of Patong at Karon, go at night time it is brilliant, if you get there before 7pm you will be able to feed the baby elephant on the side of the street.

James bond island tour: the tour we took had 3 stages, 1st was Monkey temple, 2nd was James bond island then fishing village. This was the best tour we had on long boats it took all day and was worth every minute, they also take you under a huge cave before docking at the island.

Be sure to watch THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN before you go and you will see it is exactly the smae only now it has markets there.

Also make sure you walk around to the back of the island i noticed most people dont and that was the best part.

Simon cabaret: this was very entertaining a show of he/shes and very well done.

Phuket zoo: check the show times as they only run once a day. They have a Crocodile, elephant and Orangutang show there that is great and you can have your picture taken with any of the animals. We were lucky enough to have our photo taken with a baby tiger and myself with a full grown male.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Personally I think a must do is the Hongs by Starlight tour, do a search on hrere and you will find out heaps about it,

I don%26#39;t like the Phuket Zoo, if your flying via Singapore go to their Zoo it is the best I have seen,

Personally I don%26#39;t like Patong all that much, but I would suggest hire a driver and do an island tour, fellow TA posters have their favourite drivers, I have used Mr Mor he was good, do the island tour early and you will able to find some places off the beaten track,

Elephant trekking a good one is Kok Chang ( again do a search on the forum ) you can either get there yourself, is easy enough to find , get a taxi or contact Phuket Richard he does pickups and drop off%26#39;s there,

It all depends on what you are into and I guess your budget, what is fun for some people isn%26#39;t for others,

please be careful if you choose to ride bikes in Phuket, we hear all sorts of nasty stories of people riding mopeds and failing off an injuring themselves or worse, To be honest I would rather hire a driver at $50 odd bucks a day to take me where I want to go , I can have a few beers and relax without having to worry about riding a bike. Although Mopeds are cheap at about $10 a day to me it just isn%26#39;t worth the risk.

Be aware that if you have any empathy for animals and their welfare, the Phuket Zoo, its shows and other animal shows will leave you feeling upset and distressed.

Oops, I meant to add that for some good input about things to do in Phuket, take a look back through the forum, there are lots of JBR%26#39;s (Just Back Reports) and other posts about things to do.

Ha for ages i have been wondering what JBR stood for - now I know
