buying books in phuket
Yes you can buy books there but limited authors and choice, I found a little exchange booth along Raguttit rd across from the Bangkok Bank (Anderman Hotel end), and the prices where quite good. When I had finished I just returned the book and got a few baht back.
As a matter of fact my daughter picked up a hardback copy of Harry Potter for less than half what it costs here for a paperback.
Some hotels have lend libaries but again limited choice.
There are book stores but the books are quite limited. Try the one at Jungceylon, it%26#39;s quite big, forgot the name though.
I%26#39;d suggest taking a couple with you. I took 2 largish paperbacks/ They are not too easy to come by. Mind you, my brain went into idle mode and all I ended up reading were the trashy magazines I bought at the airport! LOL
I think the large bookstore at Jungceylon is a ';Bookazine';. There is one in Karon as well. We bought a few books here, but I agree, they are not cheap.
I found an awesome 2nd hand bookshop with a ton of English books at around 280BAHT a copy at Kata Beach (South End). Head North from kata BEach Resort on the main road (Not beach road) around 500m. past all the shops, and just before it starts to get a bit barren ( IE no shops). There is a Mini Mart next door. A Lovley Canadian or American lady owns it.
Cheers

';B2S'; is another big book store at Jungceylon(2nd floor) and you can find ';B2S'; at Central Festival Shopping Center too.
Yep plenty of books to buy but they are not cheap unless second hand, I also suggest taking your own.
Maz :-)
There is a really big 2nd hand book stand on the gound floor at Juncelyon.
Average cost 300 baht.

There is a Bookazine shop on Bangla Rd, near the corner of the beachfront road.It has a good selection of newspapers and an adequate one of books.I found the book prices reasonable as compared to the U.K.published prices.
