Phuket or Koh Samui ? First time to Thailand

Hi All

It will be our first year wedding anniversary this May. We are planning to go to Thailand but were wondering where? All our friends have warned us against Bangkok too dirty etc.

We were wondering which is better Phuket or Koh Samui. We are planning on 7-10 days there and my wife wants relaxing (koh Samui) and I want a mix of relaxing and adventure (Phuket ?). We would like to do a Thai cooking class, elephant tour, jet skiing etc We were just wondering which is the best of both worlds.

So could anybody give us any tips on where to stay given we can probably only go to one or the other.

One last thing, as we are going in May what is the likelihood of rains, bad weather or cool weather?

I would recommed Koh Samui rather that Phuket personally. There is plenty to do there and also easy to relax. Although I liked Phuket I found the busy areas pretty sleazy and the smell of the drains all around Patong was pretty bad.

Can%26#39;t help you on the weather as i haven%26#39;t been that time of year.

If you can%26#39;t agre, why don%26#39;t you spend 5 days at each?
